KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan (PH) will recommend at the forthcoming cabinet meeting that this year’s national-level Malaysia Day celebration on September 16 be held in Kuching City, revealed Pakatan Harapan Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

“Since last year’s national-level Malaysia Day celebration was held in Sabah, this year, we would like it to be held in Sarawak and specifically in this city.

“This is also in line with the importance the PH government plays in the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” he said at a press conference at the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Headquarters today.

Chong, who is Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister, also pointed out that it was up to the cabinet to make the final decision on the celebration.

“We came up with this recommendation because the PH government has important factors to emphasise on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and that’s why we have the cabinet steering committee,” he added.
