SIBU: Rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak need development as they are far behind those in West Malaysia.

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, in saying this at a breaking of fast on Friday night, said it is now the objective of the PH government, which has been in administration for one year, to correct this imbalance.

“There is a big gap between the rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak compared to those in West Malaysia. So, we in PH want this corrected,” he said to the civil servants from the various federal departments here.

Lim said the government is building a new Malaysia; thus, it will not neglect rural areas in the two states.

Lim also concurred with Bukit Assek assemblyman Irene Chang, who earlier said that civil servants in the state had been very cooperative with PH’s elected representatives.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling, who hosted the event, said it was organised to appreciate the federal department officers who had helped him in carrying out his activities.
