MIRI: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Miri branch has issued a RM1,000 compound against a pharmacy here for failing to put up a price tag for face masks, which come under the list of controlled items.

According to Miri KPDNHEP chief, Joe Azmi Jamil, the pharmacy was inspected Saturday morning.

“The items (face masks) worth RM75 were seized under the Price Control and Anti Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011,” he said.

The compound was issued under the Price Control Order (Indication of Price by Retailer) 1993.

During their inspection rounds at three areas within the city on Saturday, Joe Azmi had assured that there was no shortage of supply of essential items.

He advised the public to stay calm and not go into panic buying during the movement control order (MCO) as supplies for essential items were sufficient.

KPDNHEP officers conduct an inspection at the pharmacy.
