STATE RIGHTS ISSUES
KUCHING: Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) lawmakers have been dead silent over issues affecting Sarawak’s rights, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Masing said they are silent because they are afraid, they might be seen as rebelling against their bosses in Putrajaya.

“They ‘takut lawan’ (afraid to speak against) their KL (Kuala Lumpur) bosses for fear of losing their position.

“Therefore, it is of importance that GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) must win the state 12th election because only GPS speaks up for our rights,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

He said losing is not an option for Sarawakians.

“Putrajaya hasn’t given up their fight in eroding Sarawak rights. First, they question our immigration autonomy by complaining the need to fill immigration form when coming to Sarawak.

“A few PH MPs during a parliamentary debate last year ridiculed Sarawak immigration autonomy over this matter.

“But recently our chief minister has answered it correctly, ‘if entry is troublesome, just don’t come’,” he said.

On Putrajaya wanting the State Land Code to be merged with the National Land Code, Masing said if that ever happened, Putrajaya would have a free hand exploiting the state’s assets, including its oil and gas.

“Besides that, Putrajaya via Petronas, challenges our rights in court to exercise our constitutional rights to our oil and gas! We are fighting Petronas tooth and nail on this issue!

“In all these issues, where are the PH lawmakers? They are dead silent,” he said.
