Pick-up trucks collide, two dead

TATAU: Two died on the spot while another was injured in an accident along Jalan Sibu-Bintulu, Kelawit on Monday (June 27).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the collision involved two pick-up trucks and happened around 2.25pm. Firefighters from Tatau Bomba were dispatched to the scene.

When they arrived, they found two persons trapped in the front seat of one of the pick-up trucks.

However, both men, identified as Billy Andrew, 27, and Henry Jugah, 49, were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics after they were extricated from the vehicle.

The bodies were handed over to the police to be taken to Bintulu Hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man in the other pick-up truck was taken to the hospital after he sustained injuries to his legs.

Before returning to their station, the firefighters cleared the area of debris from the collision.
