SIBU: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sibu branch held a thanksgiving ceremony for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s appointment as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia yesterday.

The ceremony was held at the residence of PKR Sibu branch secretary, Abang Ismail Abang Chek in Jalan Jasmine.

Abang Ismail in his speech said that the members decided to hold a ceremony at his house because it was the early location of the party branch’s struggles.

“This house sculpts the history of PKR’s struggle since Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah once visited this house in an effort to meet members of PKR Sibu branch at the beginning of its establishment,” he explained.

Abang Ismail, who is also the organising chairman, said that the objective of the programme was also to express gratitude to God for the appointment of Anwar as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.

“This is also a sign of PKR Sibu branch’s undivided solidarity with Anwar’s leadership to lead the Unity Government,” he said.
