MIRI: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will extend the JPJeBid system to Sarawak next month.

JPJ Director-General Datuk Seri Shaharuddin Khalid said the system would be extended on Oct 25, making Sarawak the ninth state to implement the system which was introduced in April.

“We are targeting to collect bids totalling RM1 million for the QAA-Y and QS-L series during five-day bidding periods,” he told a press conference at the JPJ office here on Tuesday.

Shaharuddin said bidding for the QAA-Y series would be open from 12 midnight on Oct 25 until 11.59 pm on Oct 29 while for the QS-L series bidding can be made between 12 midnight on Oct 31 and 11.59 pm on Nov 4.

He said payments for bids under the JPJeBid are by credit and debit cards of local banks only and bidders can apply for as many numbers as they wish by paying a service charge of RM10 per bid.

Meanwhile, the Perak JPJ has collected more than RM3.4 million in a five-day bidding for ALL registration numbers from Thursday until Tuesday.

“The second highest bid is for registration number ALL 8 at RM100,000, followed by ALL 9 at RM99,000 and ALL 117 at RM45,000,” he said when contacted by Bernama on Tuesday.

He said 80,327 people registered for the JPJeBid system but only 3,317 bid for the ALL series.

Perak JPJ had earlier targeted to collect more than RM1 million for the ALL series through the JPJeBid which was used for the first time in the state. – Bernama
