MIRI: An oil palm plantation supervisor died on the spot after his pick-up truck skidded and crashed into a ravine along Jalan Bukit Peninjau.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident happened at around 4.30 pm when the 49-year-old victim was overtaking another pick-up truck driven by a 31-year-old man.

“While in the process of overtaking, an oncoming vehicle forced the victim’s vehicle to enter the original lane and then collided with the vehicle in front of him.

“The impact had caused his pick-up truck to skid and crashed into a ravine.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Bekenu health clinic and his body was taken to the hospital for post-mortem,” he said.

Meanwhile, the other driver managed to escape unharmed in the accident.

Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
