As PDFC advisor, Dr Abdul Rahman said it was a sweet victory in PDFC’s first appearance at the tournament.

“All the players played the game very well and were very disciplined,” he said after the game.

According to him, the success also showed that the Pantai Damai constituency is capable of producing talented young players.

“What’s even sweeter is that there are even players being lured by Kuching FA for the Malaysian League,” he said.

Rahman who is also the Utility (Water Supply) Minister said he had told the Chief Minister that more such tournaments would be organised, including in other parts
of the state.

He said the corporate sector should also cooperate by sponsoring teams in the tournament.

“We also urge government departments and agencies to provide teams for such tournaments.

“It is important to bring back the glory of Sarawak football like in the 80s,” he said.
