KUCHING: The strong political stability in Sarawak has paved the way for a focused approach to policy making, allowing the state government to prioritise development initiatives effectively.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this stability, coupled with the peaceful coexistence of its multiracial population, has created an environment conducive to progress and harmony.

Additionally, he said, Sarawak’s clear policy focus on the green hydrogen economy is in line with global sustainability goals, attracting attention and interests among other foreign countries.

The emphasis on digital initiatives is also a key focus for Sarawak, he said, reflecting its forward-thinking approach to economic development and technological innovation.

“During my recent visit to Berlin, Germany, Malaysia’s progress, particularly Sarawak’s advancements in renewable energy, was recognised and praised.

“When we talk about the energy transitions (during overseas trips), many told us that their preferred (investment) destination will be Sarawak,” he said.

Anwar added that the state’s commitment to clear policies and strong political stability has made it an attractive destination for investment.

He said this at the state-level Madani Breaking of Fast event at the Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Kota Samarahan on Saturday night.

The Prime Minister also reiterated the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence exemplified in Sarawak, urging other states to emulate this model.

“I have to emphasise this because sometimes, especially in Peninsular Malaysia, there are still Muslims who dwell on old issues, just wanting to quarrel and get angry with others, turning small issues into big ones.

“Like I always say, we should learn from Sarawak, where the Malay, Bidayuh, Melanau, Orang Ulu, Iban, Chinese, all live peacefully… Look, even Dr. Sim joins in breaking fast tonight,” he said, referring to Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Earlier, Anwar also emphasised the need for integrity among the people, civil servants and business owners, stating that it is crucial for elevating Sarawak and Malaysia.
