KUCHING: Persatuan Melayu Sarawak (PMS) was formed to empower four important aspects of the Islam community in the state.

According to PMS Yang Dipertua (YDP) Datuk Bolhassan Di, the four aspects are education, social, religion and economy.

He said that even though the association is named after ‘Melayu’, the development of Muslims of other races such as the Chinese and Iban, are also taken into the association’s concerns.

Aside from that, he also said that the establishment of the association was to provide support and advisory to policies implemented by the current state government led by the Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg.

“After his 100 days as the Chief Minister, he has introduced various policies that benefit the people and that he has a vision of shaping a new economic activity for the state.

“This is something very beneficial to the state and PMS will definitely continue its support towards such policies. However, if there are some policies which are deemed to be not beneficial, PMS will respond accordingly through the right channel,” said Bolhassan.

“Through this, our people will be more educated, both in the urban and rural areas of how we could make use of technology to escalate our economic standard.

“Hence, we at PMS will be able to assist the government to achieve any agenda that they have planned to develop our beloved Sarawak,” said Bolhasaan.
