KUCHING: Sarawak police will await the decision of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on inter-district travel during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period.

“Although the conditional movement control order (CMCO) will end on June 9, a total of 51 roadblocks throughout Sarawak will still be on,” said Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail.

Aidi added that on June 6, two individuals were compounded for violating the CMCO, bringing the number of compounds issued since May 13 to 176.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the RMCO would be enforced from June 10 until August 31, with several more sectors set to open soon.

In his announcement, he said inter-district travel was permitted except for the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) areas.

The prime minister added that the public could visit their parents in other states.

“However, I ask that you take care of your hygiene.

“Wear face masks when you are in public places and avoid visiting congested areas when you return to your hometowns,” he said.
