DALAT: Police destroyed confiscated contrabands worth RM85,000 at the Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) dumping ground after receiving a court order today (June 18).

Mukah district police chief DSP Mohamad Rizal Alias said the contrabands comprised 1,375 cartoons and boxes of alcoholic drinks of various brands, which were seized from a trailer at Bukit Ambun area, Jalan Mukah-Selangau on Nov 25, 2021, for evading tax under Section 135 (1) (d) of Customs Act, 1967.

“The process is done according to procedure at the gazetted MDDM dumping site here,” he told reporters after witnessing the event at the dump site.

Rizal said the police would continue to conduct operations on such activities in an effort to keep smuggling at bay.

He called on the public to cooperate with the police and provide information if they know of any illegal activities.
