KUCHING: The district’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) enforced a traffic control daily assignment at 16 known locations to reduce traffic congestion on Today (Oct 18).
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the assignment known as point duty, would facilitate traffic movement so that congestion occurred at a minimum level.
“To further strengthen the implementation of traffic control tasks around the district, Kuching BPST has increased traffic control assignments at 16 locations, which often experience traffic congestion, with assistance from the division’s Emergency Response Team (ERT).
“They are at Setia Raja Roundabout, Jalan Canna, Samajaya Roundabout (outer ring), Jalan Satok, Jalan Stutong, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Tun Salahuddin, Uplands Roundabout, Mendu Traffic Light, Jalan Green, Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha, Jalan Batu Lintang, Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho and Jalan Simpang Tiga,” he said.
The traffic control assignment will begin from 6.30am to 8.30am (morning session); from 12.30pm to 2pm (noon session); and from 4pm to 6.30pm (evening session).
However, ACP Ahsmon stated that the assignment would be depending on the weather conditions whereby in the event of heavy rain, monitoring would be done to reduce the safety risk of on-duty members.
Therefore, the public are advised to always be careful when driving or riding and always be aware of the presence of on-duty officers.
“They should also plan their journey ahead so as not to arrive late at their destination.
“All road users are hoped to be patient with traffic congestion in Kuching and BSPT will be conducting traffic controls to reduce congestion.”
