KUCHING: The movement control order (MCO) roadblocks at non-strategic locations will be closed and shift to district borders to streamline regional control.

State Commissioner of Police Datuk Aidi Ismail said that controls at the border between regions will prevent those without permit from entering or leaving the district.

“For Sarawak, we will still carry on with roadblocks. Only a few roadblocks at non-strategic locations will be shifted, especially to ease regional control.

“This is to prevent those without any permission from entering or leaving another district,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He added that personnel involved at the non-strategic roadblock locations will be assigned at the district borders.

Apart from that, the police will add more inspection teams, especially to ensure that social distancing practices are kept.

Asked on whether there would be an addition of personnel manning the country’s border, Aidi said that the Malaysia Armed Forces (MAF) and General Operations Force (GOF) officers are sufficient to maintain security at the border.
