Police Inspector, Corporal among 14 held in a drug-fuelled party

KUCHING: Two policemen with the rank of Inspector and Corporal were among 14 individuals arrested for allegedly involved in a drug-fuelled party at an apartment last Wednesday (Nov 3).

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail, who confirmed the case, said an assistant health officer and a Form Four female student were also arrested in the operation codenamed ‘Ops Parti Liar’.

The state narcotic police raided the apartment around 10am and found the suspects comprising nine men and five women.

“Aside from the arrests, the police also seized about 14.57g of ketamine, 14 Ecstasy pills and five Eramin 5 pills.

“The suspects were later brought to the narcotic police headquarters and they were tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he said.

 Aidi pointed out that the case is being investigated under Section 39A (1), Section 12(2) and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

All the suspects are remanded until Nov 8 and are placed in Siburan and Beratok police lock-up.
