KUCHING: Police are on the hunt for a man whose attempt to deliver drugs concealed inside a can of chips was foiled by authorities last Saturday (May 1).

It was understood that the incident happened around 12.30pm in the lobby of a designated quarantine centre at Jalan Padungan here.

Kuching police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said the man went to the (hotel) lobby to deliver a food package to an unidentified occupant at the centre.

“After dropping off the package, the man immediately left without addressing to whom the package was for.

“Two People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) members proceeded to inspect the items and found two plastic packets containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu inside a can of chips,” he said.

Upon discovering the drugs, they handed over the illegal substance to the police for further actions.

Awang Din assured that efforts to identify the man who delivered the drugs, are in full swing.
