KUCHING: Three men who attempted to flee from police inspection, were arrested following a high-speed chase which resulted in their car crashing into a road divider at the Sungai Apong market last Thursday (Feb 18).

The incident happened around 12.30am when a motorcycle patrol team spotted a car acting suspiciously around a hotel near Mile 3 roundabout.

When police wanted to stop them for an inspection, the vehicle immediately took off and a high-speed chase ensued.

With the help of Kuching patrol teams, the trio were successfully detained after their vehicle crashed into a road divider.

Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, who confirmed the case, said the trio aged between 29 and 39, were arrested and taken to Kota Sentosa police station for further actions.

“Police also seized the car, an air compressor, four screwdrivers, two wire cutters and one cutting knife.

“All of them are now placed in Siburan lock-up for further investigation,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for prohibiting civil servants from carrying out their duties.
