KUCHING: Police are currently searching for a man to assist in a police investigation in relation to criminal intimidation towards a Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Customs) Sarawak officer.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said the man, identified as Yong King Ling, 35, was believed to be the mastermind behind the act.

On Thursday, the victim received a package containing two live bullets and a note at his residence in Jalan Matang. The note read “Got two bullets, one long one short, which one you want”.

“It prompted the victim to lodge a police report on it. It was believed that the motive behind the intimidation is related to a special operation carried out by the officer in early November,” he said.

Following the report lodged, three men aged 35 to 39, were arrested. Aidi noted that background checks found that two of them have past criminal records for drug-related offenses.

Aidi added that all three suspects are remanded until Dec 1 for further investigation.

“Members of the public who have any information on Yong can channel the information to Investigating Officer Insp Ramle Husin at 013-8968963 or contact any nearest police station,” he urged.
