BETONG: The arrest of three terror suspects in Serian town is a cause for concern.

Nonetheless, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is grateful to the police for their apt and fast response.

“We must congratulate the PDRM for their efforts and intelligence which had allowed them to identify, zero in and arrest those involved in such activities,” he said at a press conference here today.

Abang Johari, who is also the chairman of the State Security Committee, said the alleged activities of the suspects were very detrimental to the state.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fauzi had said the three suspects were arrested on February 2.

Abang Johari advised the people to be more cautious and alert.

“We must be weary of foreigners suddenly opening up restaurants in your midst even if they are wearing the white haji cap.

“It is a matter of perception,” he said.

When asked if the security of the state had been breached, he said in a way it had been.

“But we are also monitoring the situation as well.” he said.
