MIRI: A seven-month-old infant with bite marks on his body was pronounced dead early yesterday morning at the emergency unit of Miri Hospital. His parents rushed him from their home in Permyjaya after he fell unconscious earlier that morning at around 5 o’clock.

“The police have called up the boy’s parents for their statements to assist them in their investigation into the case,” said Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.

The baby boy, who also seemed to be underweight, was pronounced dead at 7am. According to Lim, the police are waiting for the post-mortem result to determine his actual cause of death.

“Currently, the infant’s parents are in the police station for questioning,” said Lim.

The infant’s father is working as a cook while his mother is a full time housewife,  taking care of the house and the baby. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
