KUCHING: A concerned individual has lodged a police report against a Facebook account user for posting a photo of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg which has been inappropriately edited.

Gemini Nadessen, 58, who made the police report on behalf of the Indian community in Kuching at the Batu Kawah Police Station yesterday, said that he saw the posting by a Facebook user by the name ‘Raja Jalai’ at around 12 noon and decided to lodge the police report.

“In the posting, it shows the face of Abang Johari on another man’s body who is just wearing trousers, and there is a caption saying ‘Baru ari jemat ari ya dah mabok, jemat tuk mabok agi, sik berasa, pok’.

“I feel this Facebook account holder should not do something rude against our Premier,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted on Monday (Apr 11).

He said such an act was uncalled for and hoped that an immediate investigation would be carried out by the police.

“In Sarawak, we are well known for our tolerance, so this is very frustrating to see. Some more, our Premier is a well-respected man, and a person who cares for all races.

“So, it is very rude to do as such thing,” he said.

Earlier at the police station, several other members of the local Indian community were also present to support Gemini in lodging the police report.

Meanwhile, Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong when contacted yesterday, confirmed that they had received the report but did not divulge any further information.
