BINTULU: The Bintulu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has filed a police report regarding two false calls received by the Kidurong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) this month.

Bintulu Bomba chief, Wan Kamaruddin Wan Ahmad, said the report was made at the Tanjung Kidurong police station for further action following the second false call received last Sunday.

“We urge the public not to misuse the emergency numbers to make false calls as this requires us to go to the location to verify the situation.

“This not only wastes time but also affects our response time in case of real emergencies,” he said.

He also urged parents to supervise their children and educate them on the importance of emergency numbers.

Commenting further on the two prank calls, Wan Kamaruddin said the first was received at 1.31 pm on May 10, where the caller reported a car on fire at SK Tanjung Batu, Jalan Permata 8, Sungai Plan.

The second call was received last Sunday at 5.42 pm, regarding a burning tree at SMK Assyakirin, Sungai Plan.
