KUCHING: Participants and members of the public who will be participating in the 722 Sarawak Day parade are advised to follow the rules to ensure it can be carried out in a peaceful manner.

Organiser of the parade, Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S), said it had met Kuching district police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani and agreed to comply with the requirements set by the authority.

“This is to ensure the safety of participants and members of the public,” it said in a press statement issued yesterday.

S4S said the police had disallowed children and people with disabilities to join the event. Harmful weapons are also not allowed.

The participants must not carry out seditious chants and show unapproved banners during the parade as well.

The 722 Sarawak Day parade will take place on Monday, July 22, at 8am at the Song Kheng Hai ground. At 10am, the participants will move to Central Padang to join Sarawak Association for People’s Aspiration (SAPA) for its final programme.
