Police seizes RM150K worth of controlled goods in Mukah

MUKAH: Police here arrested two locals and seized a cargo lorry transporting cooking oil packets worth over RM150,000 last Friday (Oct 21).

The operation was carried out during a roadblock mounted at Jalan Pan Borneo Selangau-Sibu around 1.25pm.

Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, in a statement, said after inspecting the load, the team found a huge amount of cooking oil packets at the back of the lorry.

“Inspections found that the controlled goods worth around RM157,500 were transported beyond the allowed limit.

“Two local men, aged 42 and 27, were arrested for allegedly committing an offence under Regulation 10(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974,” he said.

He added that the cargo lorry as well as 15,000 packets of cooking oil were seized for further action.

The case was later handed over to the KPDNHEP Mukah branch for further investigation and action.
