Police track down duo accused of stealing car

MIRI: Police have detained two men in connection with a car theft that occurred in Senadin here.

Miri deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the duo were arrested less than 12 hours after the crime.

They — both aged 23 and 26 respectively — allegedly drove off with the victim’s car, a Perodua Axia, in the wee hours of Monday (Feb 7).

The men were arrested at a rented room in Bandar Baru Permyjaya around 3pm the same day.

In the incident that occurred around 3.35am, the victim, 45, had just exited his car to unlock the front gate to his house when the two men sneaked into the vehicle and drove off.

A police report was lodged by the victim that morning.

A police team tracked down the duo, arrested them and also recovered the vehicle.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
