Politeknik Mukah to hold hybrid convocation ceremony

MUKAH: Politeknik Mukah (PMU) will be holding a hybird 13th convocation ceremony on Nov 27-28 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.  

Mukah Division Resident Hamdiah Bakir is expected to officiate at the event which will involve 1,542 graduates.

On Monday (Nov 15), PMU organised a recording of the event at Kingwood Resort, 15km from town.

PMU director Dr Zamzam Mohd Walid said the event would be streamed live to the graduates and parents on Nov 27 and Nov 28.

He said this at a press conference after the recording of the ceremony on Monday (Nov 15).

Hamdiah, PMU deputy directors Iskandar Reduan (Academic) and Awang Annuar Awang Mansor (Academic Support) and heads of departments also attended the event.

Zamzam revealed that 9,963 students had graduated from the polytechnic with certificates and diplomas since the first convocation was held in 2008.

On the employability rate of PMU graduates, he said last year, it dropped slightly to 81 percent compared to 92 percent in 2019.

Nevertheless, he added the employability rate exceeded the national key performance index (KPI) of 80 percent.
