KUCHING: Political commentator Datuk Peter Minos has welcomed the ‘Malaysian Family’ concept introduced by Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during his inaugural speech.
He said the spirit of national unity and people’s cooperation behind the Malaysian Family concept was proper and the right move given the public health and economic crises the country is facing now.
“This concept by our new PM provides a breath of fresh air for the people,” he said on Monday (Aug 23).
He said anything that unites and makes people cooperate as well as help each other would be gladly welcomed.
Minos also hope that the opposition would come together and accept the concept.
“Only time will tell but, knowing a bit of our opposition, nothing that the government proposes or does is right to them, and all are failures.
“Right-thinking Malaysians are totally fed up with quarrels and squabbling among the politicians.”
The political turbulence and mess in the country, he said, must stop to tackle Covid-19 and ensure economic recovery.

Ismail Sabri in his speech on Aug 22 had called upon all MPs from both sides of the divide to work together.
“Let us, with an open mind and hearts, forget our differences. We need to work together to save our family, the Malaysian Family.”
He added that he had chosen the ‘Malaysian Family’ approach because the phrase was inclusive as it transcended religion, race and ethnicity.
