Political parties named as 1MDB fund recipients

KUCHING: Several political parties have been named as beneficiaries of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB)  funds by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday.

The MACC has filed civil forfeiture suits against 41 entities and individuals to recover some RM270 million. The parties identified by MACC were Umno, MCA, SUPP, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).

The funds were allegedly transferred out of the sovereign investment fund and funnelled from former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s private bank accounts.
