KUCHING: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) and State Reform Party (Star) have slammed the federal government for what they perceived as having a lackadaisical attitude towards the haze situation in Sarawak.

In a joint statement yesterday, PBDSB publicity chief William Mangor and Star president Lina Soo claimed that there was no serious effort from the federal and state governments.

“Where is our Federal Minister of Environment? She is very quiet and has not even come to Sarawak to check the situation out.

“Yes, we are aware that the minister has finally sent a diplomatic note to Indonesia after a lapse of several days, and there is no further update.

“And where are our Sarawakian federal ministers? Are they hiding in the federal capital?” they questioned in the statement.

William and Soo said if the haze situation continued to persist, PBDSB and Star would send a protest note to the Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching to voice their dissatisfaction with the Indonesian government for continuing to expose the region to the haze created by its country.
