KUCHING: The future of Sarawak continues to be bright with political stability and rapid development under the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said he recalled that in 2017, the Premier expressed his vision to develop and transform Sarawak into a developed state in Malaysia by 2030.

“On July 3, 2017, Abang Jo stated his vision for Sarawak. He has said in a statement and I quote – “Lee Kwan Yew changed Singapore from the swampy and muddy island to what it is today.”

“We also aspire to transform Sarawak into a developed state in Malaysia by 2030.

“His statement is not just rhetoric, it is a pledge and a turning point in Abang Johari’s mission to develop and transform Sarawak into a developed region in Malaysia by 2030. This is a leader who has a clear vision for the future of Sarawak,” he was quoted as saying in a news report from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).

“Under the leadership of the Premier, in 2017, Sarawak’s generated revenue was at RM6.7 billion followed by RM7.2 billion in 2018.

“For the year 2023, the revenue has been projected to exceed RM11 billion,” said Uggah.
