MIRI: The front window of a Mercedes-Benz belonging to Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Pujut chairman, Bruce Chai, was smashed by an unknown person on Saturday.

A police report was lodged at Miri central police station by Chai, 47, after the discovery was made around 10.30pm.

Chai, when contacted yesterday, said he refused to speculate on the motives for the incident.

“I do not want to speculate on what has driven the incident. Let the police investigate,” he said when asked if the incident has anything to do with politics.

Prior to the discovery, Chai was having dinner at a hotel along Jalan Chia Tze Chin here.

His car was parked inside the hotel’s parking lot.

Also discovered near the scene was a weight-lifting iron (0.5kg), believed to have been used in the incident.

A CCTV footage has caught an unknown individual approaching the car and wrecked its front window at around 8.10pm.

Police are investigating the case.
