MUKAH: Nine Malaysian polytechnics have won the gold award after emerging among the top ten out of 26 such institutions in the Asia Pacific region.

And ten of them have received accreditation from the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC).

This feat, according to Polytechnic and Community College Education Department Deputy Director General Mohamad Amin Hamat, goes to show Malaysian polytechnics are competitive at the international level.

“It also serves as an excellence benchmark for institutions in the Technical and Vocational Training Education (TVET) stream in the Asia Pacific,” he said when officiating at a student intake outreach programme at Politeknik Mukah (PMU) here on Saturday (Jan 15).

According to him, it clearly showed that Malaysia, through its Higher Education Ministry was always striving to enhance the quality of education in the country.

He said the recognition proved that Malaysia had a cluster of institutions with high quality.

The event also included briefing sessions on diploma and certificate programme at polytechnics, community colleges and Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu campus, as well as degree programmes at UiTM, UNIMAS, UPNM and UPSI.
