KUCHING: The special Sabah and Sarawak Affairs portfolio in the federal cabinet will ensure that the rights of the two states as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) will continue to be protected.
For that reason, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan expressed his appreciation to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government for its commitment in creating such portfolio.
“The creation of a special portfolio of Sabah and Sarawak Affairs by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is certainly a platform for Sabah and Sarawak to have the same development and socio-economy as Peninsular Malaysia.
“I hope that this special socio-economic committee will be able to resolve economic issues in ensuring that all states in Malaysia are able to progress together in line with the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030,” he said when attending a socio-economic committee meeting held online at Wisma Sumber Alam today (March 4).
The inaugural meeting was chaired by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapha Mohamed.
Amongst those present during the meeting was Senior Minister (Works) Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
