KUCHING: The Public Order Riot Unit (PORU) will help the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in the state to maintain peace during the coming 14th General Election (GE14).
Internal Security and Public Order Department Director CP Dato’ Seri Zulkifli Abdullah said there are six units called as Public Order Riot Unit in the State, and they function the same as the Federal Reserved Unit (FRU).
“We have trained more than 60,000 officers throughout the State to prepare for the coming GE14, and to my understanding, they are trained and ready for GE14.
“If there is any unrest, this unit will back up the State PDRM,” he told reporters visiting PGA Sarawak Headquarters in Batu Kawa here yesterday. Also present was PGA Sarawak GOF commander Datuk Khaw Kok Chin.
