SEBUYAU: The Sarawak government will make an announcement on a post-Covid-19 pandemic exit strategy for the state soon.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari said while the development in the state was ongoing, at the same time, Sarawak was also preparing its strategies to recover from the pandemic.

“Very soon, I will be announcing the post-Covid-19 pandemic exit strategy in terms of economy, social, culture and education,” he said during the launch of the Batang Lupar Bridge earth-breaking ceremony today.

However, the chief minister did not elaborate further on the exit strategy.

Previously, the state government injected a total of RM3.049 billion under the five Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) packages since the first package was announced on Mar 23 last year.

A total of RM1.15 billion was allocated under BKSS 1.0, followed by BKSS 2.0 (RM1.1 billion), BKSS 3.0 (RM290 million), BKSS 4.0 (RM104.84 million) and BKSS 5.0 (RM405 million).

The main objectives of BKSS 2020 were to address societal needs as well as industry needs across all levels of society and scale of business entities during the Covid-19 pandemic.
