Power supply to rural Julau underway

KUCHING: The state government is supplying electricity to the rural constituency of Julau.

Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin said works to install electricity poles are now underway in the areas of Ulu Entabai, Ng Engkamop, Lubok Besai Entaih, Munus and Bekakap

“The Sarawak state government has approved two Rural Electrification Scheme (RES) Last Miles Phase 2 projects in Meluan.

“These are in Ulu Entabai with a contract cost of RM17 million and in Ulu Kanowit and Mujok with a contract cost of RM25 million

“Meanwhile, the RES Last Miles Phase 3 Project is currently in the tender process,” he said in a Facebook post today.

On Thursday, the Meluan assemblyman attended a dialogue session with the village residents on the rural electricity supply project in Julau at Rumah Laman, Nanga Nunyau, Ulu Kanowit.

Duat said the dialogue was held to explain to the residents about the project which is currently ongoing in Ulu Mujok and Ulu Kanowit areas.

During the dialogue, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) representative Rofino Rantai also spoke and fielded questions from residents whose area were involved in the project.

“I hope that all parties involved, especially the residents whose land will be the path of this electric pole later to cooperate with the agencies so that this project will run smoothly,” said Duat.

Also present were representatives from the Utilities Ministry, Julau district office representative Andrew Ajan, community leaders and residents.
