SERIAN: Fire partially razed two floors of a departmental store at Jalan Simanggang here this morning.
Firemen from Serian and Siburan fire stations were dispatched to the scene of the incident which occurred around 4.30am.
Serian fire chief, James Gani said upon arriving, the teams had to break into the premises to carry out extinguishing works.
The first floor of the departmental store was 50 percent burned while the second floor was about 40 percent damaged. Apart from that, about 40 percent of the goods in the premises were destroyed.
There were no reports of casualties and the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Forensic Unit.
