Premier approves RM28m for school

KUCHING: A sum of RM28 million has been approved for SMK Agama Tun Ahmad Zaidi to upgrade the school building and for other amenities.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg made the announcement following a request by the school principal Zainab Hussein.

“The principal has given me a list of details including the cost. So, I approve RM10 million to upgrade the school building, hostel and the teachers’ quarters,” he said.

He said this during the school’s 25th Silver Jubilee Thanksgiving Dinner here last night.

Abang Johari said among others, the total allocation will also include the purchase of new school buses to replace the old ones.

“Apart from that is the development of human capital. This, we do it within our means, so another RM1 million is approved for the school.

“Therefore, in total, I approve RM28 million for the school. As for the other requests, we will look into it,” he said.

At the same time, the Premier also called on the teachers and students to pray for Sarawak’s revenue to increase.

Also present were Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dr Annuar Rapaee and Sarawak Education director Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad.
