Premier attends SMC’s CNY Open House

SIBU: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Chinese New Year 2023 Open House at Sibu Civic Centre here today.

Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee were among those in the entourage.

Upon arrival, Abang Johari and his entourage were greeted by Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Chairman, Clarence Ting Ing Horh, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Michael Tiang, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek and Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew.

Others there to welcome Abang Johari were Sibu MP Oscar Ling, Lanang MP, Alice Lau, Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce, Temenggong Vincent Lau, Temenggong Stanley Gramong, and others.

He later proceeded with a Chinese Calligraphy writing ceremony together with other state leaders before entering the hall and being welcomed by the public.

After attending the SMC open house Abang Johari attended an open house at Michael Tiang’s residence at Lorong Terap before heading to Pansar Group Managing Director Pemanca Datuk Jason Tai’s residence.

Later in the afternoon, Abang Johari headed to the residence of Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek at Rejang Park before ending his visit at the house of a local businessman Temenggong Vincent Lau at Jalan Camar.
