LIMBANG: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg feels a close affinity to the new RM6.39 mln Limbang Museum.

“I was born here and today I am 72 years old. I can see Limbang has developed and am proud to see another museum built for the folk here.

“Artifacts have been collected and are displayed in this building. They tell stories of Limbang, the culture, language, way of life and so forth.

“It is important to have this museum because we want to keep history alive for the current and future generations,” he said during the official opening of the museum here today.

He added that the museum would not only be a tourist attraction but also be a centre of knowledge for academicians looking to research Limbang’s history.

On another note, Abang Johari said as Anak Limbang (a son of Limbang), he had another dream for Sarawakians.

“My ambition is to have our own fund, through the Sovereign Fund, we can provide free education at university level for our Anak Sarawak (sons and daughters of Sarawak).

“This is my intention, whether I can do it or not, I leave it to God but that is my ambition as Anak Limbang.”
