MIRI: Prepare well for the 12th Sarawak Election so that  the ruling government led by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) continues to govern Sarawak and that development policies are implemented smoothly.

Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni told Sibuti voters this on Saturday (Oct 16) during the ‘Sepakat@ Komuniti’ programme organised by Miri Information Department (JaPen) at Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Bekenu.

He added that the GPS needed a strong mandate from the voters in the coming Sarawak election which could be held any moment once the State of Emergency was lifted.

On July 30 this year, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al -Mustafa Billah Shah proclaimed a six-month Emergency in Sarawak from Aug 2 until Feb 2, 2022 in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As such, the state election could not be held. For the record, the Sarawak Legislative Assembly’s term ended on June 6 this year.

During today’s ‘Sepakat@Komuniti’ programme, Lukanisman presented food baskets to 50 needy individuals from his Sibuti parliamentary constituency.

Bekenu was the fifth location for the programme after Piasau, Pujut, Senadin and Lambir.

Lukanisman said that his parliamentary (Sibuti) office in Bekenu was always open to those in need of assistance.

“Please don’t shy. We are open to assist the rakyat,” he said.

Also present was Miri JaPen officer Zamri Mohammad.
