KUCHING: Although the prices of durians are still high this early in the season, true lovers of the king of fruits are not reluctant to part with their cash in order to get their fix.

Take Mariam Amit, for example. The 57-year-old durian lover from Bandar Baru Samariang here said every year or every time the durian season arrives, she and her husband won’t miss visiting the farmers’ market near Emart Matang to buy the fruit.

“Although durians are quite expensive this year compared to previous years, my husband and I are not deterred as long as we can enjoy the delicious fruit.

“Every durian season, we always go to the area near Emart Matang because the durian sellers there offer quality durians at reasonable prices.

“Usually, we choose durians from Sri Aman because for us, they taste the best as compared to others,” she said.

She added that she and her husband would often buy durians in large quantities to be made into various dishes for her family.
