KUCHING: Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, wife of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, yesterday received a courtesy call from State Prisons director Ajidin Salleh.

The visit which took place at the chief minister’s official residence in Petra Jaya here was meant to express gratitude and appreciation of the department to the state government for having initiated the SaraPride ‘songket’ project.

SaraPride (short for Sarawak Prisons Department) is a brand name for ‘songket’ fabric woven by Puncak Borneo Prison inmates. It is the state’s new textile product.

In an interview during Juma’ani’s visit to the workshop recently, Ajidin said the initiative would grow and empower the ‘songket’ industry in Sarawak.

Also present during yesterday’s courtesy call was Puncak Borneo prison director Hamdan Salleh Majin.
