KUCHING: Sarawakians have benefitted from the current political stability in the state brought by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government said Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.

He said the state government has been prioritising the welfare of the people through assistances under Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) along with continuing its infrastructure and socioeconomic development efforts.

“The Sarawak government has spent more than RM4.4 billion under BKSS to help the people weather the Covid-19 pandemic with the latest RM1.4 billion BKSS 6.0 package announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg

“This includes the provision of cash and food assistance as well as targeted subsidies to the people and traders in the state,” he said on Wednesday.

Dr Hazland said at the same time, the GPS government had spent more than RM91 million to fund medical costs to deal with the pandemic.

He said this included buying medical equipment such as Covid-19 swab tests, personal protective equipment (PPE), RT-PCR machine, face masks and others.

The Demak Laut assemblyman said GPS has been promoting development centric politics, ensuring that development is brought to every state constituency.

“After the May 2018 incident, the GPS continued to pursue the development agenda according to its own mould after the then federal government under the rule of Pakatan Harapan (PH) had discriminated against the development of Sarawak.

“Many development projects that had been and would be approved at that time were cancelled.

“However, the GPS government administered by Sarawakians are determined to continue development through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), minor rural project (MRP), Projek Rakyat, Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS) and so on for the people of this state,” he said.
