Project visits keep Mong’s diary full

SRI AMAN: Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang has been busy seeing to various development projects here, including the construction of drainage systems and agricultural roads.

One of these projects involves the construction of a drainage and irrigation system for the Tekalong Dor, Melugu scheme area, and it is in full swing.

According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) on Tuesday (Feb 8), Mong said this project worth RM410,000 was under the Agriculture Facilitation Fund (AFF) programme.

He said the project included the implementation of a drainage system and embankments as well as sewer installation.

On Monday (Feb 7), Mong also went to the ground to monitor the maintenance works on the farm road for the Rumah Nimong Rambutan Anak Sekolah scheme, Empelanjau Pantu here which is still under implementation and almost completed.

Mong said this AFF project worth RM271,000 will benefit Rambutan Anak Sekolah operators in the area as the demand for the product is high in the domestic and export markets.

Meanwhile, during his visit to Rumah Nimong, Empelanjau Pantu on Monday, he assured that residents would be provided facilities to generate agricultural products as well as drive the economy.

In the brief ceremony, he announced a RM100,000 allocation under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to be used to level the land behind the Rumah Nimong longhouse.

Aside from that, there was a Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation of RM10,000 given to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and RM5,000 for the Women’s Bureau of Rumah Nimong, Empelanjau Atas.

Elsewhere the same day, Mong surveyed a project involving the construction of a new road at Kubau, Pantu, which is being actively carried out.

He said the implementation of the RM82,000 project under AFF had faced some constraints due to the unpredictable weather.

At the same time, the initial planning to build the road leading to the plantation also had to be changed and re-planned given the steep terrain and its associated risks.
