KUCHING: More infrastructure projects have been implemented and construction works are ongoing at Kampung (Kpg) Benawa, Marudi.

Marudi assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said the projects include the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) at a cost of RM3.2 million.

“One of the projects is the construction of a jetty and pontoon at a cost of RM130,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) through Baram MP Anyi Ngau,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Mar 21) after visiting Kpg Benawa to monitor the implementation of the project recently.

The other projects are the construction of the RM200,000 Sekolah Kebangsaan Benawa multipurpose hall as well as the upgrading of the road from Kpg Benawa to Long Maro ferry, Penguang said.

“For a short-term solution, water tanks have been provided for the residents of Kampung Benawa while they wait for the implementation of the Kpg Benawa Water Supply Project under the People’s Project package.

“I also will allocate Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to build several concrete walkways to access houses in Kpg Benawa,” he said.
