Projects to benefit farmers, fishermen

Date:

KUCHING:  Local residents will benefit from the drainage and retention wall projects being implemented in the Kuala Rajang constituency.

Urban Development and Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the main beneficiaries would be the farmers and fishermen in Kampung Rajang.

“These two people-centric projects worth RM3 million are fully funded by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government.

“They are implemented under the Kuala Rajang assemblyman’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) to overcome the problem of bank erosion and floods,” he said in a Facebook post on Saturday (Sept 25).

On Friday, the Kuala Rajang assemblyman attended a dialogue session to explain to residents the upgrading of the drainage and irrigation system project at Sungai Bapa, Kampung Rajang.

The session also explained the implementation of the erosion and wave retaining wall project at Kampung Rajang Baru.

Len said the briefings on these two projects were delivered by Mukah Division Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) engineers Faizal Suki and Nurul Lisa Raduan at the Kampung Rajang community hall.

The assistant minister said the projects being implemented were scheduled to be completed within a year.

Also present were Tanjung Manis acting district officer Ismail Kasah, community leaders Penghulu Kalali Klen, Penghulu Rosli Mat and Penghulu Abu Seman.
