KUCHING: Dwellers in the Batang Sadong parliamentary constituency are reminded to promote products that are unique to their area to the outside world.
Federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said this includes the culture, traditional food as well as the attractive places that can be tourist attractions.
“The onus is on the dwellers of Batang Sadong to take the initiative to promote the products that are available locally. Traditional food, culture and attractive destinations can be tourism products.
“For myself, I have been to various locations in Simunjan such as Gunung Ngeli, the camping spots at Sungai Rian Kampung Kepayang and Wong Muas Kampung Kepayang — all of these have their own attractions,” she said.
She said this when officiating at a cheque presentation ceremony to mosques and suraus, as well as the donation of Al-Quran at Al-Ansari Mosque in Kampung Kelka, Simunjan on Saturday (Sept 26).
During the ceremony, Nancy presented 72 copies of Al-Quran from the Karangkraf Group to each of the nine mosques and surau in Simunjan.
Also present were Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) secretary-general Datuk Dr Noor Zari Hamat and Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) director general Datuk Dr. Mohmed Razip Hasan.
Joining them were Motac Sarawak director Suriya Charles Buas and Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris.
