Promoting learning culture to achieve developed state

KUCHING: Cultivation of knowledge and lifelong learning should be increased by all quarters to achieve Sarawak’s aspirations towards a developed state by 2030.

Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said promoting the culture of learning is a noble effort that must be achieved by all levels of society.

At the same time, he said communities with knowledgeable, positive thinking and competitive mind could help in accelerating the development of Sarawak.

He said this when officiating at the Kuching Book Fair 2022 at the Sarawak State Library, yesterday..

Apart from that, Sagah said with the introduction of PCDS 2030, the state’s economy will be driven by data and innovation and enjoys inclusive economic prosperity in a sustainable environment.

“PCDS 2030 cannot be achieved if we still don’t have the knowledge through learning and reading.

“Hence, the book industry is important to society where good books are produce so that people of all ages can read anytime.

“The industry is one of the important industries and has grown rapidly in Malaysia with its economic value reaching RM320 Million in 2020,” he said.

Sagah urged that good efforts should be encouraged to the public, especially the new generation from various social and economic backgrounds to start writing, continue to write and publish reading materials.
